Cordova Android 9 support dropped

We’ve had to drop support for Cordova Android 9. It’s no longer supported for upload to the Google Play Store, and its dependencies have been deprecated or removed. To ensure compatibiity and security, please upgrade to Cordova Android 14, or to our minimum required version, Cordova Android 10.

Update, October 2026: stock cordova-android 9 still can’t build, for the reasons above. But we now maintain our own copy of 9.1.x with the dependency problem fixed, so existing 9.x projects can build again. It’s free and public:

<engine name="android" spec="https://github.com/voltbuilder/cordova-android#9.1.1" />

Details are in Building for Android 12 and Later. Apps built this way still target SDK 29, which the Play Store doesn’t accept, so moving to 10 or later is still the recommendation if you publish there.
